Health services

The objective of the healthcare services is to improve and upkeep the populations health, welfare and working ability. The corner stone of the healthcare services is preventive healthcare and well functioning and available services. The healthcare services in Lestijärvi are provided by Soite.

Many of the health related issues can be dealt with over the phone, so you do not necessarily need to do to the healthcare center. A medical professional will determine the need for care and direct the customer to the right service in order to start the treatment.

If you employer has a medical agreement, we ask the customer to reach out to their employer´s medical clinic in first hand.

Health services in Finland

You are entitled to use public health services in Finland if you have a municipality of residence (kotikunta) in Finland. The right to a municipality of residence depends on the following matters:

• the country from which you have come to Finland
• your reason for coming to Finland (e.g. work, studying)
• whether you are moving to Finland permanently or staying here temporarily
• if you are staying in Finland temporarily, the length of your stay in Finland

If you are unsure whether you have a municipality of residence in Finland, find out at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Digi- ja väestötietovirasto).

If you do not have a municipality of residence in Finland or are not covered by Finnish health insurance, you may have the right to health care or reimbursements from Kela on other grounds. You must apply for this right separately.

If you have a municipality of residence (kotikunta) in Finland, you are entitled to use public dental care services. You can find more information on the InfoFinland web page Municipality of residence in Finland.

In case of emergency, you can use municipal services even if you do not have a municipality of residence in Finland or a residence permit for Finland. The costs may be charged to you afterwards.

In Finland, health services are provided in Finnish and Swedish. You can usually use English, too. When you make an appointment with a dentist, ask if you can use an interpreter if you do not speak these languages. Read more on the InfoFinland page Do you need an interpreter?

When you have made an appointment with a dentist, it is important that you arrive at the dentist in good time. If you have an appointment but cannot make it, it is very important that you cancel it in good time, normally on the previous day. If you cannot make your appointment and you have not cancelled it, you will have to pay a fee.

If you need urgent care on weekdays between 16:00-08:00 o´clock or on weekends and midweek holidays, contact the central hospital´s emergency room, phone: 116117.

In emergencies always call 112.

Appointment cancellations

The cancellations should always be made as soon as possible but the latest on the days before the appointment. If cancelled later or not at all, you will be charged with a fine.

You can cancel your appointment by calling the healthcare center´s phone number or by texting at any hour to +358 408 042 090. The text must include your name and the time that is being cancelled. You can not call the texting number.

Lab

Lestijärvi health centre has a lab for blood samples, which works by booking an appointment. The appoinment can be acquired by a doctors or nurses referral.  from Monday to Wednesday 7:30-9:30.

Dental services

Dental services are located in the healthcare center: Niemeläntie 3 A, 69440 Lestijärvi.

Non-urgent appointment bookings 06-8287400

Adults appointments can be booked over the phone from the booking number.

The dental services will determine the reason for the contact, assess the need for treatment and its urgency and then direct the customer to a dentist, dental hygienist or orthodontic.

Over the age of 15 years will be charges a fine of 50,80€ for an unused appointment. The appointment needs to be cancelled 24 hours before the appointment.
